GdR IA Seminar

News teaser

The purpose of the GdR IA seminars is to highlight, within a presentation accessible to most of the community, the numerous domains covered by the GDR and its activities. In this context, Stéphane Canu has been invited to present the history and advances in AI for driving.

From Tesla to Waymo via Stellantis, Renault, Mobileye and Valéo, most players in the automotive world claim to have integrated artificial intelligence in their products. But which type of AI are we talking about? From a historical perspective, we will retrace the main stages of the introduction of AI in vehicles. We will then take stock of the existing situation, specifying the techniques used and the performances obtained, emphasizing the differences between driver-assistance systems and autonomous vehicles. We will end by reviewing the main challenges and open questions related to autonomous driving in terms of perception, decision support and implementation of this embedded AI.

Slides of the presentation can be found here.
